Dive into the vibrant and ethereal style of abstract florals. We will springboard from the natural beauty of the flowers, flora and foliage into stunning abstract interpretations on paper. We will explore color, form and line to teach you how to convey the essence and energy of floral in an abstract language. This workshop promises a bloom of creativity that will nurture your capacity to see and create beauty in new ways.
In-person, two-day workshop
We meet for two days
Monday September 9th 10:00-3:00
Wednesday September 11th 10:00-3:00
Barbara Mosher's Studio, Whidbey Island, WA.
Day One:
- Fundamentals- Compositions, color and line. Visually examining flowers and foliage to interpret rather than duplicate on paper.
-Watercolor - techniques to achieve visual enchantment of floral colors and shapes.
Wash & Glaze, wet-in-wet, Dry-in-wet, Dry-on-dry, wet-on-dry, transparency.
-How to and what not to do and some secret sauce.
By the end of Day One you will have 2 or 3 floral studies complete.
Day Two:
-Other materials, inks, pen, acrylic
- combining ink and watercolor
-Using acrylics (optional) for the abstract floral and foliage art.
- Painting! Free time to paint and receive one-on-one support
At the end of the workshop you should have finished art and paintings to take home.
